NSPCC study on neglect

You can download the study on Neglect and Significant Case Reviews which draws conclusions from a study of serious neglect cases, many involving the death of children.

Although it is clear that one should not draw the conclusion that death is a likely or common outcome in neglect cases it does heighten awareness of how serious neglect  can be for older children as well as under fives.

In many of the cases, death or serious injury arose because the child or young person was exposed to dangerous situations or their family circumstances contributed to self harm.

We already know that neglect is the most common reason for the registration of children; this report reminds us of why it must always be taken very seriously.
