Keeping your child safe
Child safety in the community
As your children grow older and start to go out on their own - travelling to school or meeting friends, what advice should you give them about staying safe?
The NSPCC checked with parents themselves, and have published a booklet on their website entitled Out Alone.
This recommends teaching your child to memorise their name, address and your phone number as soon as they can. Teaching them about 'safe adults' they can go to for help if they are lost or afraid and encouraging your children always to tell you the three Ws - where they are going, who they are going with and when they are due back.
Netmums also has section on essential safety for kids and stranger danger.
Here is the information on staying safe on the streets included in our Advice Zone for Young People.
