Public protection and the Chief Officers’ Group

The South Lanarkshire Chief Officers' Group oversees the work of the Child Protection Committee.

This group was restructured to include adult protection and the Multi-agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) bringing the three areas of child protection, adult protection and the management of high risk offenders under the banner of public protection.

This arrangement across the three stands of public protection assists Chief Officers and strengthens information sharing, communication and joint planning in the protection of our children, young people and vulnerable adults.

MAPPA, the child and adult protection committees and Doorway which co-ordinates South Lanarkshire’s response to domestic abuse are all based at the Public Protection Office in High Patrick Street, Hamilton.
