Shiona is deaf and has had to adapt to the changes of the enviroment around her throughout her entire life. This was inspired by her, to show that deafness is not to be treated so much like a disbility, and to provoke a change of attitude and awareness towards people who are deaf.
Script based on Shiona McClafferty's essay on her hearing loss.
Filmed, Directed and Edited by Amy Urquhart.

Volountary Arts sector

The variety of voluntary arts activity and enthusiasm amongst audiences and volunteers is one of the key features of the arts scene in South Lanarkshire.

Arts Development supports and develops the voluntary arts within local communities, to encourage new membership and to raise awareness for the voluntary arts across South Lanarkshire.

Our Voluntary Sector Officer coordinates training events and development initiatives, provides information and develops resources such as information toolkits and a regular voluntary arts newsletter Network Arts.

In addition, advice surgeries are available to groups needing help with any aspect of their activity from writing a constitution to assistance with funding applications.
