The Arts development team works with communities and schools in a range of activities to create works of art both outdoor and indoor.
We run an on-going programme of classes, courses, summer schools, workshops and seminars for children, young people and adults including drawing, sculpture, painting, photography and life drawing. Our wide ranging programme is designed to accommodate all needs, ages and abilities and runs over four academic terms enrolling in August, October, January and April each year (three terms at East Kilbride Arts Centre). Details are available in the arts development programme and in the ACE children's activities programmes.
Public art is frequently the result of economic or social regeneration projects but can also be part of wider projects involving the natural environment and people of all ages and abilities.
Work co-ordinated and produced through arts development staff ranges from public artworks in Hamilton Town Centre and Cadzow Glen to a mosaic at Springhall, the unique festive street lighting designed by teenagers in Cambuslang, and the Artscape project for Stonefield Park, Blantyre.
Advice and support is also provided to voluntary groups.
