Collecting and new acquisitions
South Lanarkshire’s museum collections continue to develop and we are offered lots of interesting items. Not all can be accepted, but many are now part of the collection. Among the highlights this year: archaeological finds allocated via Treasure Trove from: Allanton, Ferniegair, Snabe Quarry, Drumclog and a medieval silver gilt finger ring discovered in the Waterfoot area of East Kilbride.
We have also recently acquired a very nice collection of saddlers tools and two Cadzow Forest paintings by artist George Sweet.
We are always on the lookout for South Lanarkshire related objects at auction and in Treasure Trove finds. We have very limited finances, but apply for help from the National Acquisitions Fund.
