Ryan Young and Sean Gary

As part of this year’s Young at Heart Festival we once again welcome another recital from Live Music Now musicians. This year Scottish traditional fiddle and guitar duo Ryan Young and Seán Gary.

Ryan Young is an emerging young fiddle player from Scotland - one of a 'new wave' of young players bringing fresh and inventive ideas to traditional Scottish music. His fiddle playing is brimming with fresh melodic ideas, an uplifting rhythmic drive and a great depth of dynamics and precision. Ryan's sound is very distinctive and he always manages to take the listener on an adventurous and emotional journey in any performance. Ryan studied and graduated with a first class honours degree in Scottish Music from The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and was awarded the Arthur Robertson prize for Scots fiddle playing. He has now also completed a Master's in Music, being awarded the highest possible mark for his final performance.

Seán Gray is a guitarist and singer from Coylton in Ayrshire. Since spending a year at the prestigious National Centre of Excellence in Traditional Music he has played to audiences throughout North America and Europe. Most of this time has been spent playing with the award winning Paul McKenna Band who were cited by The New York Times as: "The best folk band to have come out of Scotland in the last twenty years."

Ryan and Seán have been performing together as members of Live Music Now Scotland since early 2017.

Available to book online or by calling Lanark Memorial Hall on 01555 667999.
