Dog fouling

If you know that someone doesn't clear up after their dog you should report the times and places that it happens.

It is an offence to not clean up immediately after your dog in any open public space. Dog fouling is unsightly and is a potential health hazard. If your dog fouls on any public open space including footpaths or grass areas and you fail to clean it up you could be fined £80.

Unfortunately despite this increase in the fixed penalty notice fines the levels of dog fouling in Scotland are at their highest in a decade, contributing towards a decline in environmental quality standards.

If you think dog fouling is an issue in your area you can request to have ‘No dog fouling’ signs erected.

All litter bins situated throughout South Lanarkshire can be used for bagged dog poo.
