Premises licence to sell alcohol
Before you apply
If you want to sell alcohol from a business, you need a premises licence. Before you apply, check that the licence matches your plans.
Check an existing licence
If you are taking over a property with a licence, you must apply to transfer it. Ask your solicitor to review the licence. You should check:
- what activities are allowed (for example, food, children on the premises)
- any conditions set by the Licensing Board
- you can view a copy of the licence for free at our Licensing office.
Make changes
Each premises has an operating plan and layout. If you want to add something not listed, such as entertainment, you must apply to vary the licence.
Other licences
You will also need a Personal Licence to sell alcohol.
