Efficiency Savings 2010/11 - External charging (Greenburn and Maxwellton Out of School Care)

Efficiency Savings 2010/11 - External charging (Greenburn and Maxwellton Out of School Care) | South Lanarkshire Council
TitleEfficiency Savings 2010/11 - External charging (Greenburn and Maxwellton Out of School Care)
Council ResourceEducation
Service AreaEducation Resources
Aims and ObjectivesThis policy proposes to reduce the net operating costs to the Council for running the Greenburn and Maxwellton out of school care service by increasing the charges to service users. The increase in price as a result of the removal of subsidy will align the cost of out of school care for Greenburn and Maxwellton with charges paid by parents and carers in other establishments. This is intended to provide a more realistic charge that reflects the quality of the service provided.

ConclusionOur aim is to achieve a financial saving with the removal of the subsidy for the Greenburn and Maxwellton Out of School Care service. However, the proposal could affect parents and carers of children with Additional Support Needs who use the service. If any adverse impact is identified in the future in relation to the equality groups, this will be addressed through ASN legislation and/or the Inclusion agenda. We will continue to work in partnership with Social Work, Integrating Children's Services and health services to ensure that vulnerable families are supported.

The conclusion of this initial equality impact assessment is a recommendation that the Council needs to undertake wider consultation with stakeholders to enable a full assessment to be completed. An action plan will be part of this process, should this be deemed necessary following consultation.
