Aims and ObjectivesAt present music tuition is available free of charge to all pupils in mainstream primary and secondary schools. Part of this provision is funded by the Scottish Arts Council?s Youth Music Initiative (YMI). The intention of this policy is to continue to offer music tuition free of charge through YMI funding to all P5 pupils in mainstream primary school. A charge will be levied for those pupils outwith this group who wish music tuition.







ConclusionThe intention of this policy is to continue to offer music tuition free of charge through YMI funding to all P5 pupils in mainstream primary school. A charge will be levied for those pupils outwith this group who wish music tuition. There is no evidence that different target equality groups have different needs in relation to this policy. This will not affect pupils who attend Additional Support Needs establishments. Therefore, the conclusion of this initial impact assessment is that there are no adverse impacts on any part of the community covered by equalities legislation, or on community relations.
