TitleSouth Lanarkshire Local Plan Waste Management Policies
Council ResourceCommunity and Enterprise
Service AreaCommunity and Enterprise
Aims and ObjectivesThe South Lanarkshire Local Plan Waste Management Policies set out the Council's land use planning requirements for the location of waste management facilities. The policies' objectives are to:
- Ensure that waste management developments are guided to appropriate and sustainable locations
- Ensure compatibility with the Glasgow and Clyde Valley Area Waste Plan
- Develop waste management systems which will control waste generation and reduce its environmental impact
-Maximise the economic opportunities arising from waste

ConclusionThe conclusion of this initial impact assessment is that there are no adverse impacts on any part of the community covered by equalities legislation, or on community relations. This is due to the nature of the waste management policies which identify the land use planning requirements in relation to the provision of new developments. Detailed design requirements for new developments are addressed in other policies within the Local Plan. Consultation on all Local Plan policies is undertaken in accordance with the requirements of the Town and Country Planning legislation
