Aims and ObjectivesThe Housing Repairs policy sets out our approach and service standards in relation to repairs to council houses
The policy covers the responsive and planned repairs service we provide for housing house tenants. This includes
repairs that are reported directly by tenants
repairs picked up through estate visits by housing staff, and
planned programmes of maintenance, including communal and external areas that the Council is jointly responsible for with owners

The gas safety policy sets out our approach and service standards in relation to gas safety


The solid fuel and oil safety policy sets out our approach and service standards in relation to solid fuel and oil safety



ConclusionA Human Rights Equalities and Diversity Impact Assessment of the Councils Housing Repairs Policy, gas safety and solid fuel and oil safety policies was carried out between September and February 2010. The policy sets out the Council?s approach and service standards in relation to the repairs council houses and common areas, gas safety and solid fuel and oil safety.

The policy was developed in conjunction with tenant representatives and individual tenants and extensive consultation was carried on the draft policy.

The assessment concluded that the policy had a medium degree of relevance to the Council?s equality duties in relation to:

Promoting equality of opportunity

The assessment established that the policy has no adverse impact on human rights or equal opportunity requirements.

It was concluded however that scope existed to address identified weaknesses which were

Recording/Monitoring ? need to improve recording and monitoring of equalities issues in relation to the policy and
Reporting ? need to develop clear reporting systems with stakeholder groups in relation the repairs service

Need to explore different methods to report emergency repairs
