Aims and ObjectivesIt is proposed to base the current weekly charge for care home respite on the minimum income level applicable to an older person less a deduction in respect of their personal allowance. It is proposed that the weekly charge for 2010/11 should be £108.10 per person per week, which represents an increase of £24.48 per person per week (29%) from £83.62 per person per week.




ConclusionIt is proposed to base the current weekly charge for care home respite on the minimum income level applicable to an older person less a deduction in respect of their personal allowance. It is proposed that the weekly charge for 2010/11 should be £108.10 per person per week, which represents an increase of £24.48 per person per week (29%) from £83.62 per person per week.

The increase in the weekly charge for care home respite will impact on all older people how have residential respite.
An assessment would be carried out by the allocated Social Worker prior to referral to residential respite. Any financial issues would be looked at to maximise the benefits that the person has.
