---|---|
Service Area | Social Work Resources |
Aims and Objectives | The Larkhall and District Volunteer Group receive core funding to promote the benefit and welfare of elderly chronically ill or disabled people. Services include befriending , support and volunteer transport. This service has been identified for efficiency savings. Following a review of the service, it has been confirmed that the majority of the funding is being redirected to provide a transport service for other vulnerable groups. It is proposed to provide alternative arrangements for the service users accessing the services provided by Larkhall and District Volunteer Group. |
Conclusion | The Larkhall and District Volunteer Group receive funding to provide befriending and support group services for older people to facilitate access to local community resources and reduce social isolation. This initial equality impact assessment has identified there would be an adverse impact and that there is a need to collect and analyse monitoring data and undertake wider consultation to enable a full assessment to be completed. An action plan has been developed to do this and a full assessment will be carried out within 12 months. On the basis of this assessment the proposed efficiency saving has been withdrawn. |
