Consultation summaryA number of events staged from October - December 2013. The first one being a tenants’ conference on Saturday, October 5. The event was run by tenants for tenants. The agenda involved a number of key topics including:- • The Housing budget - the current position and the impact of welfare reform • Getting good value from rents and service charges • The Housing Repairs Service The next events were meetings of the local housing forums where tenants could find out about the Council’s housing budget, the rent setting process and give their views on the key areas to be considered in setting the rent level for 2014-15. To conclude the consultation there was a Question time event in the Banqueting Hall at 6pm on Thursday 5 December 2013.
BackgroundThe council has a statutory duty to consult on the level of council house rent increase each year.
Why are we consulting?To give council house tenants a chance to be part of the process of setting their rent levels for the coming year and to give their views.
