A fair wind for final day's sailing

A fair wind blew plenty of good to the medal winners in today’s final sailing events, as Austria , Switzerland , Lithuania and Australia all picked up medals.

Gold in the Laser class went to Marco Baumann of Innsbruck , Austria ; silver to Harry Morton of Lake Mcquarie , Australia and bronze to Adomas Luitkus of Kaunas , Lithuania .

In the optimist event the gold medal was collected by Wolf Van Cauwenberghe of Vevey, Switzerland, who has been the clear competition leader since Friday, while silver and bronze went to Johannes Reder of Innsbruck and Lennard Ludwig of Montreux, Switzerland respectively.

The friendly spirit of the competition was clear to see on the winners' podium as all the boys got together for the presentation. Their camaraderie and the friendships they have developed were shining almost as brightly as the huge smiles on their faces as they proudly displayed their medals. Tour director Ian Young congratulated all the young winners, and added: "I've enjoyed managing this event immensely. The spirit of the races has been superb, and it's been a real pleasure for everyone involved, on and off the water.

"Sincere thanks go to all the race officials, sponsors and volunteers, who have worked extremely hard, and to the young people themselves, for making this such an excellent competition. I hope we have a chance to welcome them back to Scotland in the future."

The full results will be posted on the results pages.
