Adopted roads
These are roads that are managed and maintained by us. It doesn't matter who owns the ground on which the road is built.
Until a road has been adopted it remains private. It is the responsibility of the developer or house owner to maintain it.
Where can I see a list of adopted roads?
You can view a list of public adopted roads at your local Roads office.
New roads
New roads can be built by developers to a standard that allows them to become adopted once they are finished.
Older roads (before 1985)
If the road was built before 1985, to become adopted, the owner must pay for any necessary upgrading to bring the road to an acceptable standard.
