Social work plays an important role in the criminal and youth justice systems.
Criminal Justice Services provide a
range of services to the Court such as providing reports to the sheriff to consider
before passing sentence as well as managing community based sentences that are
imposed by the Court.
Across our local offices, we manage
individuals subject to Court Orders in the community to allow them to stay employment, keep family links and make amends for the harm they have
caused due to their offending. We do not view a community sentence as a 'soft
option' but an opportunity for individuals to pay back to the community.
We work with a number of partners in
the community to manage risk for example, the police and colleagues in housing,
health and prison services.
