Pass plus grant for young drivers

We give a £75 grant towards the cost of Pass Plus, which is approximately £120. This is for newly qualified drivers.

What is Pass Plus?

Pass Plus lets you build on existing skills and knowledge, gain valuable driving experience and reduce the risk of road traffic accidents. It also entitles you to cheaper car insurance and increases your driving competency - and there's no test to sit.

The training involves six sessions with a Pass Plus registered driving instructor to give you experience of driving in town, on rural roads, in all weathers, on dual carriageways and motorways and driving in the dark.

How to apply

To qualify for the grant you must

  • complete the six modules of the Pass Plus course
  • live in South Lanarkshire and
  • have passed your driving test within the last 12 months

Download the Pass plus - grant application form. To obtain a grant you need to apply to us before starting the course.

When you get the grant

After approval of your application you will receive a voucher. You can then arrange to take the six modules of the course. When you complete the course you will be issued with a Pass Plus certificate by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA). Return the voucher to the road safety section with a copy of your official DSA Pass Plus certificate, record of modules and completed evaluation form. We will then send you a cheque for £75.
