Sustainable development strategy
We have just undergone a period of consultation on our draft sustainable development strategy. The strategy will cover the next five years.
We issued copies of the sustainable development strategy consultation draft to a wide range of individuals and organisations to invite as many people as possible to comment.
Consultation feedback will inform the final strategy that will be adopted by the Council.
The Council's first Sustainable Development Strategy has reached the end of its lifespan and a fresh approach is now needed to build on what has been achieved so far.
Achieving sustainable development is a broad ranging endeavour which goes beyond the boundaries of what the Council can itself deliver and extends to all sectors of society, including national government, businesses, local communities and the voluntary sector.
