Hamilton BID Ballot - Declaration of Results

Following the count on Friday 6 October 2017, the ballot holder for the Hamilton Business Improvement District Ballot, Returning Officer Lindsay Freeland, has certified the result as follows:

  • Number of Ballot Papers issued - 386
  • Number of Envelopes returned - 171
  • Total Number of Ballot Papers in envelopes - 172
  • Number of Ballot Papers not returned - 214
  • The return rate in total is 44.56%

The return rate in respect of:

  • Rateable values - 53.88%
  • Ratepayers - 44.56%

The total number of votes cast in the ballot, excluding any votes given on ballot papers rejected - 171

The aggregate rateable value of each relevant property in respect of which a person voted - £6,287,635

The total number of votes:

  • In favour of the question asked in the ballot - 112
  • Against the question asked in the ballot -  59

The aggregate rateable value of each relevant property in respect of which a person voting in the ballot has voted:

  • In favour of the question asked - £4,360,185
  • Against the question asked - £1,927,450

Therefore the minimum return rates in respect of rateable value and ratepayers have been met and the proposal to continue the Business Improvement District in Hamilton has been approved by the majority of eligible non-domestic ratepayers in terms of numbers of votes and rateable values.
