If you want to explore your family tree, we can help you get started. You can book time with our family history team, search Scottish records or get copies of birth, death and marriage certificates from across Scotland. Whether you are beginning your research or filling in missing details, we are here to support you.

We offer the following services to help you trace your family:

Family History Service appointments

If you want one to one support, you can book an appointment with our Family History Service.

When you arrive, we will work with you to look through the information you already have and guide you step by step through your research.

To help us prepare, please bring:

• Names of the family members you want to trace
• Any dates of birth, death or marriage you know
• A simple outline of your family tree to show how relatives are connected

Appointments cost £15 per hour or part hour.
