Local parks - district parks

Our larger country parks at Chatleherault, Calderglen, James Hamilton Heritage Loch, Lanark Loch, Strathaven Park and Biggar are managed on behalf of the council by South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture.

In addition, the council maintains the following local parks.

  • Castlebank Park, Lanark
  • Town Centre Park, East Kilbride
  • May Street Park, Hamilton
  • Stonefield Park, Blantyre
  • Alexander Memorial Park, Stonehouse
  • Cambuslang Park
  • Overtoun Park, Rutherglen

Through our parks improvement programme, we have invested in our traditional Victorian parks over the past few years, fixing and replacing lighting, paths, benches, fencing and children's play areas.  We have also improved the flower beds, replanted and replaced shrub beds and re-landscaped areas to discourage anti-social behaviour.

Over the next few years we will continue to work on drainage, woodland and open spaces in our parks as well as in our cemeteries and other open areas.

For more information see our parks directory.
