South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture Ltd

South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture Ltd (SLLC) is an expansion of South Lanarkshire Leisure Ltd, which was formed on 1 April 2002 to manage the operation of sports and recreation facilities on behalf of South Lanarkshire Council.

From 1 October 2010 the remit of SLLC now also includes management of halls, country parks, museums, libraries, Arts and the Outdoor Resource Base.

The company has a Board of directors which includes four nominees from South Lanarkshire Council.

The company has charitable status.

The charitable objectives of South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture are:

  • To provide, or assist in the provision of facilities for recreation, sport, cultural, social or other leisure time occupation as are beneficial to the community, and in particular in connection with the local authority area of South Lanarkshire as defined in the Local Government etc (Scotland) Act 1994.
  • To provide, whilst providing or assisting in the provision of such facilities for the community, special facilities for persons who by reason of their youth, age, infirmity or disability, poverty or social and economic circumstances may need special facilities.
