Throughcare (Work with prisoners who are being released from prison)
Work with prisoners who are being released from prison
We work with prisoners and their families from when they are sentenced or remanded, through being in prison and after their release.
These services, called throughcare, help prisoners get ready for being released and resettling back into the community.
All prisoners sentenced to four or more years and some on shorter sentences are required by law to use this service.
For prisoners not required by law to engage with criminal justice social work there are a number of opportunities to voluntarily engage with social work services to help with a wide range of issues including reducing problematic substance misuse, employment and general re-offending.
