How to avoid getting a parking ticket
Council parking attendants can issue parking tickets (penalty charge notices) to vehicles parked:
on yellow lines
in pedestrian areas
in residents' parking areas
in disabled parking spaces without a badge and
in car parks without a valid Pay and Display ticket
They do not have powers to take action against obstructive or inconsiderate parking, where there are no yellow lines. This is the responsibility of the police.
If you are concerned about obstructive parking you should contact Police Scotland by phoning their 101 helpline number for non-emergency enquiries or by completing their enquiry form.
