Road safety calendar competition

Every year we run a calendar competition, open to all schools in the area.

The winning painting is illustrated on the road safety calendar - 10,000 copies go to schools, offices, libraries, colleges, hospitals and council buildings.

The winners

See the winning designs for the road safety calendar and read about the announcement of the winners.

The entries

Invitations to take part are sent out to all schools along with guidelines.

Head teachers send in the best five from each class. They are then reviewed by the Traffic and Transportation Section and placed into five categories.

The final 16 entries are judged by a panel consisting of the members of the Traffic and Transportation Section, representatives from Education Resources and other partners in road safety.

The overall winner and first, second and third from each entry group are invited along to a ceremony in the Council Chambers where the prizes are presented by the Provost. The children's artwork is displayed on large screens and the overall winner receives a cash prize and a personalised trophy. His or her school also receives a trophy and a large version of the calendar.
