Birth, marriage and death

Our registrars record births, deaths, marriages and civil partnerships and perform a range of non-religious ceremonies. These include naming ceremonies for babies and children, weddings, civil partnerships and funerals.

The General Register Office for Scotland maintains these records for the whole country and also arranges the population Census which takes place every 10 years.
