Freedom of Information legislation that came into full force in January 2005 is designed to ensure openness and accountability. This means that wherever possible, we will make the information you request available to you.
At the same time, we ensure that we've good systems in place to keep confidential information covered by the Data Protection Act, such as school or social work records, in a secure way.
Before making a request for information you should check the Council's Publication Scheme to see whether or not we already make your requested information available without you having to formally make a request. The Publication Scheme explains how to obtain some information and whether there is a charge.
Requests for information must be made in writing, or in a permanent form like email, video or audio tape.
