Politicians, elections and democracy

The most recent South Lanarkshire Council Elections were held on Thursday 3 May 2012 with a by-election for Rutherglen South (Ward 11) held on Thursday 14 February 2013.

The people of South Lanarkshire elect 67 men and women who will represent them on the Council. The area is divided into 20 wards, each with three or four councillors.
