All households in South Lanarkshire are responsible for paying council tax. This important source of income ensures that the Council can provide a wide range of essential services to South Lanarkshire residents.
Council tax is charged on domestic properties dependent on the value of your home whether privately owned or rented. Your home is valued by the Lanarkshire Valuation Joint Board. All the forms for council tax discounts and exemptions are in Council tax forms
Water charges are included in your council tax bill. These are set by Scottish Water and collected by the Council on their behalf. These charges pay for essential water and sewerage services. If you have a septic tank you may pay no sewerage charge, contact your local
Benefit and Revenue office
for details.Please note your Council tax charge for 2008/2009 is the same as last year however your water and sewerage charges have been increased by Scottish Water.
The council tax financial year runs from 1 April to 31 March and is payable between April to January in respect of any year (10 monthly instalments). You cannot currently access your account details online.
