Equal opportunities and diversity

South Lanarkshire Council is committed to combating all forms of discrimination and promoting equal opportunities. In doing so the Council seeks to remove barriers that affect access to opportunity for disadvantaged groups and individuals.

Our Equal Opportunities policy has been developed to put these ideas into practice across all our services. This means ensuring we comply with all equal opportunities legislation and develop best practice as a major employer and in the way we provide services for people.

We take steps to include and involve everyone in our community, particularly those groups who can experience unfair discrimination on grounds such as age, disability, gender, race and religion. Key documents, including our race, disability and gender schemes can be found by following this link to View related publications.

If you have any comments or concerns on equal opportunites, please use our Comments and complaints form. For further information on our Equal Opportunities policy or any of our schemes, please contact Gill Bhatti, our Employee Development and Diversity Manager.

Our Contacting us page provides information in other languages and on online and telephone translation services and requesting interpreters for meetings.
