Childcare and nurseries

We all want to make sure young children get off to the best start in those crucial early years and there's been a big expansion in nursery provision in recent times.

Free pre-school education places are available for all 3 and 4 year olds in Scotland. In South Lanarkshire Council, we are able to make this commitment by offering places within our own early years establishments and also through commissioning places with the private and voluntary sector. To apply for a nursery place in South Lanarkshire, please contact the early years provider directly.

For further information regarding pre-school education, please contact the Early Years Service. This comes under Education Resources, Achievement and Attainment Service.

To find out more about the range of services for young children, check out the Scottish Childcare website (this external link will open in a new window). Or you can call the local office of the Childcare Information Service.
