Betting, gaming and liquor licensing

District Courts, Licensing and Registration offices administer a range of betting, gaming and liquor licences on behalf of the Licensing Boards.

Civic Licensing

District Court, Licensing and Registration offices work with the Licensing Committee to administer licences related to taxis and private hire cars, street traders, window cleaners and a number of other licences including public processions and work permits for school-age children.

South Lanarkshire Council runs four District Courts in East Kilbride, Rutherglen, Lanark and Hamilton.

Environmental health licensing

Environmental Health is responsible for issuing licences to businesses for areas including food premises, butchers, pet shops and riding establishments.

Public processions, marches and demonstrations

If you are organising a public procession, you must give the council at least 28 days notice of your intentions. Organisers should complete a Notice of proposal to hold a public procession form (139KB PDF) (this link will open in a new window) and send it to our Cambuslang District Courts, Licensing and Registration Office which handles these applications for the whole of South Lanarkshire.

Trading standards licensing

Consumer and trading standards is responsible for a number of licences including petroleum licences, fireworks, explosives and a range of licences related to animal health and welfare.
