Landlords meeting

The National Landlords Association Scotland is holding an information evening on Thursday 9 October.
Offering advice and information on subjects including buy-to-let lending and ending tenancies and regaining possession of your property, the meeting, chaired by NLA Scotland representatives David Kendall and Brian MacBride, will also allow landlords to have their questions answered on a variety of other topics concerning them.
The open evening will take place at South Lanarkshire Council Offices, Almada Street, Hamilton. Doors will open at 6.30pm for a 7pm start. Tea, coffee, pastries and muffins will be served. Non members welcome.

Extra school holidays

Children from Cathkin High School, Rutherglen High School and Cathkin Community Nursery have been given additional holidays to allow classes to be prepared for them moving into their new buildings.
Cathkin High School will be closed from 1pm on Thursday 9 October 2008. The school will also be closed on Friday 10 October 2008. After the October break, the school will remain closed on Monday 20 October and Tuesday 21 October 2008. The new school will open its doors to pupils on Wednesday 22nd October.
Rutherglen High School will be closed on Thursday 9 October and Friday 10 October 2008. Pupils will have 2 additional days holiday after the October break; on Monday 20 October and Tuesday 21 October 2008. The new school will open its doors to pupils on Wednesday 22nd October.
Cathkin Community Nursery will be closed on Wednesday 15, Thursday 16 and Friday 17 October 2008. The new nursery will open its doors to children on Monday 20 October 2008.

Hammonds is recalling all batches of the following sauce sachets. All of the products listed contain allergens which are not identified on the sachets.
Hammonds Vinegar 8g; Hammonds Brown Sauce 10g; Hammonds Tartare Sauce 10g; Hammonds Mayonnaise 10g; Hammonds Salad Cream 10g.
Hammonds other products are not affected by this incident. If you have purchased this product since January 2008, you should return the product to this wholesaler for a full refund.

Product recall - Frozen vegetable bean burgers

Dalepack believe that a small proportion of the kidney beans used in the batches below did not meet their normal high quality standards and have therefore withdrawn these items from sale. Consumers who have purchased these products are asked to return the product packaging in accordance with the address details given on the pack and a full refund will be given.
Products recalled are: Dalepack 4 Spicy Bean Quarter Pounders best before end January 2010, codes 8203 and 8204 only.
Grassingtons Spicy Bean Burgers best before end December 2009, codes 8174 and 8175 only.
Tesco meat free 4 Mexican-style Bean Burgers display until April 2009 / best before July 2009, codes 8182 and 8183 only.

Whitelee windfarm consultation

Consultation is taking place on proposals to use the Whitelee windfarm, currently under construction, for recreation including walking, cycling and horse riding.
The Whitelee Access Action Plan (Draft) has been prepared and members of the public are being asked for their comments during the consultation period which runs until Friday 31 October 2008.

Industrial Action

There may be disruption to council services across Scotland on Wednesday 24 September as a result of industrial action by the GMB, Unison and Unite trade unions.

Join the Citizens Panel

Our Citizens Panel is seeking new members to make up the 2000-strong team of people who are consulted on council, health and other services.
You can apply online on our Citizens panel - how to join page.
The panel is consulted by the council and other agencies on issues ranging from council spending and health initiatives to housing and community safety. Consultation takes place via paper surveys, online surveys, focus groups, workshops, telephone surveys and face-to-face surveys. Panel members receive one annual newsletter advising them on the findings of any surveys in the previous 12 months and what action has arisen from this.

Strathclyde Police special constables work alongside our regular officers - on the beat and in the community.
If you can give us an average of four hours a week, we will give you knowledge, training and £1000 a year loyalty payment. What you get out of being a special constable is up to you but it could include new experiences, meeting new people and gaining new skills.

Public Services Ombudsman

The Public Services Ombudsman has recently issued a report concerning South Lanarkshire Council.
A complaint that the council is not using the correct school boundaries when establishing school placements and free school transport was upheld.
