The roles of carers are varied - it could be only for a short time while the person is recovering from an injury or illness or it could be a lifelong role. As a result caring could have an impact on the financial, physical, social, emotional and psychologial wellbeing of the carer.

Caring for older people

Children and families

Most families experience difficulties and stress at some point in their lives. Mental health

It is estimated that one in four people in South Lanarkshire will experience a mental health problem at some point in their life. While many recover quite quickly, others experience severe mental illnesses that can endure for some time. Social work and health staff work in joint teams to provide a range of services.
