We empty bins from more than 142,000 households a week collecting general waste and recyclables on alternate weeks. There is a major drive to reduce the amount of waste going to landfill and to achieve set targets we must recycle more. From July 2006 - June 2007, South Lanarkshire Council recycled or composted more than 75,000 tonnes of waste - the second highest total in Scotland. Our next target is to reach 40% by 2010 and we are currently achieving a 37% recycling rate.
You will find more detailed information, forms and publications on all aspects of household waste on this page. Alternatively, if you want more information on recycling or have items you want uplifted, you can phone or email the Land Services helpline or complete a Request for uplift online form.
