Our Archives and Information Management Service, based at the South Lanarkshire Council Records Centre, is responsible for the selection and preservation of records and archives relating to the South Lanarkshire area.

The service selects and preserves the records of South Lanarkshire Council and the local authorities that existed before South Lanarkshire came into being. It also preserves the records of local organisations, businesses and individuals.

Archives are the unique, irreplaceable records of government, business, organisations and people. You can use archives to research your family tree, the building of your house and the development of your local area and community, and to investigate the actions of local and central government.
