NAS is responsible for the collection, preservation and provision of access to Scotland's public and legal records. It also holds a large number of records of private businesses, organisations and individuals. These records, which date from the 12th century onwards are a key resource for Scottish history. The National Register of Archives provides details of collections held across the United Kingdom which relate to British history. The NRA provides a searchable database of collections on corporate, family, personal or place name.

Scottish Archive Network

SCAN is an online network of local authority, university, religious, business and private archives across Scotland. The site provides access to searchable catalogues of each participating archive including South Lanarkshire Council. SCAN also operates the Scottish Documents and Scottish Handwriting websites.
