East Kilbride Old Parish Churchyard
This churchyard was developed before the time of the present church being built around 1776 and is a 'B' graded churchyard. The earliest headstone found is dated 1710. Notable occupiers of the churchyard are the parents of William and John Hunter, the family surgeons and the Rev. James French, minister of the church from 1791 until 1835. Rev. James French being the minister who also tutored the young Walter Scott and the Stuarts of Torrance. The churchyard also has a covenanters link. Cremated remains can be interred or scattered within family lairs. Records are available dating back to 1875.
