Primary education The council runs 124 primary schools throughout South Lanarkshire, many with nursery facilities and units for children with additional needs, providing modern teaching to suit the needs of each child. There are just over 25,000 children of primary age in the area, with primary schools serving the 5-12 age group over seven years - primary one to seven. go to >> Primary education

Schools Modernisation Programme South Lanarkshire Council now boasts the biggest UK-wide education PPP (Public Private Partnership) with a total capital value of £318 million invested in its Secondary Schools Modernisation Programme. go to >> Schools Modernisation Programme

Secondary education There are around 20,000 secondary age pupils in South Lanarkshire and we currently have 17 secondary schools catering for young people in the 12-18 age group. A £319 million secondary schools modernisation programme is underway which will ensure bright and modern learning environments for all of our pupils.
