Primary education

The council runs 124 primary schools throughout South Lanarkshire, many with nursery facilities and units for children with additional needs, providing modern teaching to suit the needs of each child. There are just over 25,000 children of primary age in the area, with primary schools serving the 5-12 age group over seven years - primary one to seven.

A major modernisation programme is underway to upgrade all of our primary schools.

Whether you want to enrol your child in a primary or secondary school, make a placing request, check out school transport or find out about the curriculum - you'll find a range of information below.
