Elderly and disabled - housing support

Housing work with Social Work together to let people to live in their own homes - from installing a ramp and providing a community alarm to improving security and moving to sheltered housing.

Homelessness

We offer help and advice to people who have lost or are at risk of losing their home.

Neighbourhood issues - mediation, anti-social behaviour

As well as the mediation service we have an anti-social behaviour team and community wardens patrolling in some areas.

Rent and Housing Benefit

We have 25,500 tenants and many rents are subsidised by Housing Benefit. We can help you with your claim as well as advise you if you have money problems. We can also help private tenants.

Tenant participation

We are keen to encourage tenants and residents associations so that we can consult them on issues that affect them.

We are improving our Council houses with the £190 million HomeHappening housing investment programme.

Local Housing Strategy (LHS)

The LHS sets out how we and our partners will ensure the area has good quality housing of the right tenure, type and size in the right places.

Private sector housing - Scheme of Assistance, factoring and private renting

Many houses in the private sector need repairs and improvements and we can help with grants, factoring and landlord registration.

Sales - Right to Buy

Last year 607 tenants took advantage of their right to buy their Council house.
