Council Tenants can still buy their house from the Council.
The government changed the Right to Buy legislation in 2002, but people who took up a tenancy with the Council prior to 30 September 2002 qualify under the old scheme, provided they have not transferred to another house after that date. Tenants taking up a new Council tenancy on or after 30 September 2002 qualify under the new scheme.
This leaflet on the Scottish Government's website has details about your right to buy as a tenant and useful information to help you decide if you want to purchase your home.
