Licences and district courts

As well as dealing with gaming and liquor licensing, civic, trading standards and environmental health licensing, we are currently still responsible for some local district courts prior to the Scottish Courts Service taking over their control.

Gaming and liquor licensing

We administer a range of gaming and liquor licences on behalf of the Licensing Boards.

District Courts

All District Court business transferred to the Scottish Court Service on Monday 22 February 2010.

Public processions, marches and demonstrations

If you are organising a public procession, you must give us at least 28 days notice.

Civic licensing

We administer licences related to taxis and private hire cars, street traders, window cleaners, public processions and work permits for school-age children.

Environmental health licensing

Environmental Health is responsible for issuing licences to businesses such as food premises, butchers, pet shops and riding establishments.

Trading standards licensing

We are responsible for licences such as petroleum licences and if you are organising a procession you must give us at least 28 days notice.
