Calderglen Country Park and surrounding countryside

Within the grounds of Calderglen you can wander along the length of the wooded glen which extends for about 5km along the Rotten Calder river with several attractive waterfalls and important Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) geological features along the way.

Spring and early summer are the best times for woodland flowers and bird song, especially during early mornings. The songs of summer migrants such as willow warbler and blackcap frequently mingle with those of our resident birds. Foxes, badgers, roe deer and otters may also be seen.

While away the lazy days of summer exploring the Calderglen meadows for wild orchids and other interesting flowers. Also look out for butterflies.

Autumn is an especially fine time of year at Calderglen, when the foliage on the trees take on a wide variety of attractive colours and shades - and the toadstools are at their most abundant, together with colourful seasonal fruits and berries.

All outdoor events at Calderglen are listed in the website's What's on. You can also view the Calderglen Country Park trails leaflet (608KB PDF) (this document will open in a new window) for detailed information on the various trails.

Although groups can visit our park at any time, it is helpful to complete our online group (unassisted) booking form, to advise us on numbers attending and dates etc.

Please contact Calderglen Country Park for further information.
