Local government ballot box

South Lanarkshire makes all the voting arrangements for elections to the Council, Scottish Parliament, the UK Parliament, European Parliament and referenda. The Lanarkshire Valuation Joint Board (this link will open in a new window) is responsible for compiling the Electoral Register and deals with applications for postal and proxy votes.

The Local Government Boundary Commission for Scotland is an Advisory Public Body responsible carrying out statutory reviews of electoral and administrative arrangements.

North Lanarkshire Council

North Lanarkshire Council shares a common boundary with South Lanarkshire Council. For electoral purposes, the Scottish Parliamentary constituency of Hamilton North and Bellshill covers part of Hamilton (Whitehill, Almada, Chantinghall, Wellhall, Auchingramont and part of Hamilton Central areas), Bothwell and Uddingston.
