We help the more vulnerable people in our communities get the help they need.
There are almost 32,000 carers in South Lanarkshire, including 750 young carers. Caring can have an impact on the financial, physical, social, emotional and psychological wellbeing of the carer.
Wherever possible, we want young people to stay with their own families in their own communities. We work closely together with other agencies such as health and the police to achieve this.
Improving everyone's health and wellbeing is a top priority for us, not just making sure you have somewhere to go when you are ill but that everyone has the chance of a healthy and active life.
We aim to ensure that people with learning disabilities have the opportunity to live as part of their community and are involved in activities that enrich their lives.
If you or a member of your family is affected by disability, we provide a range of services that can help from community alarms and adaptations for your home to blue badges and disabled parking bays.
We work closely with Victim Support and the Scottish Domestic Abuse Partnership Strategy to provide practical help and emotional support to victims.
We work closely with the NHS and other agencies to help older people continue to live comfortably in their own homes with day care or residential services if required.
We are a registered provider of fostering and adoptive services.
Social Work plays a major role in the criminal justice and youth justice systems, from preparing background reports for the courts to tackling the underlying behaviour that can lead people into constant brushes with the law.
We have a range of services for adults with mental health problems. Our Community Mental Health teams include health and social workers and play a key role.
The misuse of drugs, alcohol and other substances can seriously impact on the wellbeing of individuals, families and communities. Along with the health services and police we aim to help solve these problems.
