Caring for older people

Photo:Caring for Older People

If you are older and would like an appointment with social work to discuss your situation and need for support, contact your local social work office, or complete a Social work services appointment request. If you are concerned about a relative or friend, complete this Social work services referral form.

If it's very urgent, phone your Social Work Office during office hours and ask to speak to the duty officer. In emergencies at weekends and after office hours, phone the Social work emergencies service.

With 46,000 people over 65 and 19,500 over 75, we work closely with the NHS and other agencies to provide a variety of services that help older people continue to live comfortably in their own homes with day care or residential services if required. Most of these services can only be arranged following a care assessment. You will find more information on care assessment and the kinds of services we offer detailed below.
