When South Lanarkshire Leisure committed to the National Junior Golf Strategy clubgolf in 2005, one of the facilities identified as having potential for coaching opportunities was the pitch and putt course at Brancumhall Recreation Area.

£10,000 was invested in the course to implement new tee mats and bunkers and give a general upgrade so that the facility could accommodate coaching programmes.

The facility operates as a pay-and-play public course, however at certain times during the golf season it will be closed for both junior and adult coaching purposes.
